Day 1:Humantay Lake from Cusco Tour
Highlight of the day: Visit one of Peru’s most magical lakes called “Humantay Lagoon” and be surrounded by the impressive Salkantay and Humantay Peaks while gazing at unbelievable turquoise water..
We will pick you up from your hotel between 4:30 to 5:00 am then we will go by private van to the village of Mollepata for 2 hours where we will stop to have breakfast buffet in a restaurant and then continue for 1 hour more to the beginning of the trek called Soraypampa at 3900 m
Here begins the adventure of Humantay lake for approximately 2 hours of uphill trekking with a distance of 3 km.
Once in this beautiful Humantay lake, you will have enough time to enjoy this incredible place, take pictures and meditate a little bit because this place is very energetic and for the lovers of mysticism is perfect.
This incredible time that you will spend in Humantay lake will be for you to remember in your life, many travelers call it one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, normally you will be here between 1 hour to 1 hour and a half depending on if it is rainy or dry season but always keep in mind to take the most important things for the mountain as a jacket for cold, gloves, hats, glasses, walking sticks.
The return from the lake is about an hour to where the cars meet, there ends the tour of Laguna Humantay and return to Mollepata for lunch and continue our journey to Cusco where we will leave you at your hotel.
In general, this experience of the Humantay lake is for those travelers who have little time in Cusco and can enjoy the most of this path that does not have much physical effort, in case of problems with the altitude will have the option of renting a horse.

Humantay Lake Peru can leave any day of the week, from March through January. We don’t operate this itinerary in February because of the rainy season & maintenance of the route.

Permits are needed for your chosen start date. Tour prices are based on the number of people in a group. Prices are valid from March 2023 through January 2024. All prices quoted are $USD

Driving time: 4 hours one way. Approx. 5 hours total.

Difficulty: Moderately difficult hike, but you can use horses to ride.
Trail Terrain: Flat trail for about 40 minutes. Loose rocks on the uphill hike, take your time. The last part of the trail is hilly, rocky, and slippery. be careful.
Hiking distance: 7 km round trip do not rush with care.

WHAT TO PACK FOR THE HUMANTAY LAKE DAY TRIP?
Hiking the Humantay lake Peru is like any other high altitude trek, so it is essential to be well prepared. As it begins in the dead of night morning, consider to pack the following Items:
- A down and rain jacket. – It will be cold in the morning and just in case it rains you can use a rain jacket.
- A pair of gloves. – Don’t let the freeze numb your fingers in the morning.
- A hoodie/hut and sun glasses. – To protect against cold in the morning and sun radiation during the day.
- A good pair of hiking shoes. – Although you can reach the lake in sneakers it is better to wear sturdy shoes.
- Rain poncho. – if you know you are going in the wet season you must take a rain poncho.
- Hiking poles. – If hiking with the support of poles is more your style, take them with you. It will help you balance too.
- Water bottle or camelback. – Hydrating in the high will help the lack of oxygen
- Sunscreen. – high altitude UV rays are intense
- Snacks. – boosters for extra energy.
- Camera. – Bring extra batteries, it can be discharged easily.
- Cash. – There may be a time when you need a lift on a mule, so you can pay for it, or buy some snacks. Same as for the use of restrooms.

- Iron tablets and pills for altitude sickness. Several people on the hike have varying degrees of altitude sickness and both of these remedies (in addition to the coca tea) are very helpful in alleviating the symptom

- Re-usable plastic or metal water container
- Bandages or moleskin
