Day 1: Unveiling the Cloud Forest and Navigating the Alto Madre de Dios River

Embark on a captivating journey into Manu National Park! Here’s a detailed breakdown of your exciting first day:

Morning:

  • 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM: Depart Cusco by private van, embarking on a scenic 7-hour drive through the majestic Andes. Ascend to reach a staggering altitude of 13,000 feet (3,905 meters).
  • 9:00 AM: Step back in time at Ninamarca, a pre-Inca cemetery offering a glimpse into the Wari culture’s funerary practices.
  • 10:00 AM: Continue your adventure to Paucartambo, a charming colonial town boasting cobbled streets and traditional architecture. Enjoy a refreshing break to explore the main square and immerse yourself in the local market’s vibrant atmosphere.

Afternoon:

  • 11:30 AM: Descend the eastern slopes of the Andes, entering the mystical cloud forest. Marvel at the exuberant vegetation, teeming with ferns, orchids, bromeliads, and towering bamboos.
  • 1:00 PM: Savor a delicious Peruvian lunch at a local restaurant, fueling up for the afternoon’s explorations.

Permits are needed for your chosen start date. Tour prices are based on the number of people in a group. Prices are valid from March 2023 through January 2024. All prices quoted are $USD
